In 1795, Daniel Penfield began purchasing land here in Township 13 Range IV and began building mills in 1800 along the falls area of Irondequoit Creek to encourage settlement. Population grew rapidly, and in 1810, this township and the adjoining township to the north, Township 14, were designated by the New York State Legislature as the Town of Penfield.

Penfield Parks and Recreation offers affordable programming for all ages. Programs include classes on a wide variety of unique topics, lectures, sports, swimming, arts & crafts, drama, music, dance, family events, and so much more! 

Over six public parks and miles and miles of walking trails, The Town of Penfield provides aoudoor recreation activities to all.

The Penfield Central School District is located in suburban Rochester, N.Y. and covers nearly 50 square miles, including sections of six towns - Penfield, Brighton, Perinton, Pittsford, Macedon and Walworth. The district serves approximately 4,500 students in grades K-12 at its six schools.
